Updated Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030 launched at LambEx
The latest strategic plan for the state’s livestock industry, the ‘SA Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030’ has been launched at Lambex 2024.
The updated roadmap for the state’s $4 billion livestock industry continues an important legacy that started at the previous LambEx event in Adelaide in 2014.
Blueprint Working Group Chair, Elke Hocking said the industry continues to recognise that its success and growth will be greatest if we continue to collaborate and pursue a shared vision, just as the 2014 sheep meat and wool value chain working group instigated.
“The SA Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030 continues to open the doors for significant co-investment from the SA Government and other research organisations for the development of livestock research, extension and adoption projects within the state. This will enable the red meat and wool value chains to capture market opportunities and continuously improve stewardship for our animals and the land,” Ms Hocking said.
“The Blueprint sets the strategic direction for industry wide investment, policies and programs that will ensure the red meat and wool industry is progressive, sustainable, connected and adaptable.”
“The Blueprint is organised by five key pillars: Our livestock, Our environment, Our market access, Our people and Our industry, which guide success through 16 priority areas within these pillars and 37 key targets that the industry is striving to achieve by 2030.”
“The future of the SA sheep industry is bright, and the work of the Blueprint has contributed to the growth of the industry.”
“Our latest plan is more aligned and focused with updated targets to drive the industry forward and continues the legacy and considerable achievements of the SA Sheep and Beef Industry Blueprints.”
Livestock SA is charged by industry to drive the delivery and ensure currency of the SA Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030.
Livestock SA President Joe Keynes said the latest Blueprint was a credit to the collaborative efforts of the industry, government, research and service profession representatives who continue to invest their time, expertise and passion to progress the livestock industry.
“Livestock SA is proud to be entrusted with progressing the Blueprint. It is critical that producers and the whole value chain continue to determine the path forward for their industry.”
Projects from across industry and research institutions are being showcased at the Sheep Industry Fund Booth at LambEx, where the targeted direction of investment into industry research and development aligned with the SA Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030 are clearly on display.
