SA drone business aces pitch at Growing SA

A South Australian-based agricultural drone business has been crowned the winner of the Growing SA AgriFutures evokeAG. AgTech Pitch based on an audience vote.

Drone Agricultural Remote Technology (DART) was voted the winner of the AgTech Pitch, beating finalists AgriWebb, FarmBot, CERES and TraitSelect.

DART is described as using the latest in agricultural drone technology — capable of mapping, seeding and spraying pasture remotely.

As part of the Growing SA AgriFutures evokeAG. AgTech Pitch, DART won two tickets to evokeAG 2024 in Perth and a $2,000 bursary for flights and accommodation.

DART Director Adam Rice said he was genuinely surprised but excited to win the AgTech Pitch.

“Winning the AgTech Pitch at Growing SA is fantastic exposure for our business which is in its infancy,” Mr Rice said.

“Being involved in the Ag-Tech Pitch at Growing SA was an excellent opportunity to also connect with people in the grain and livestock sectors.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity and excited about what role drones will play in the future of agriculture.”

Grain Producers SA Chief Executive Officer Brad Perry said more than 240 people attended Growing SA and the AgriFutures evokeAG. AgTech Pitch was a welcome first-time addition.

“Each of the five finalists were given the opportunity to pitch about their technology for five minutes in front of a packed room at the Adelaide Convention Centre,” he said.

“It was a close contest with DART narrowly beating its competitors and I congratulate Adam Rice for his fantastic pitch to the audience at Growing SA.”

Livestock SA Chief Executive Officer Travis Tobin said the AgTech Pitch showcased a range of technologies that producers can adopt now.

“The audience was really engaged in the AgTech Pitch and we could see many producers also taking down notes as the different technologies appealed to them,” he said.
