Professor Wayne Pitchford

Wayne is Professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics and Director of the Davies Livestock Research Centre at the University of Adelaide. He studied Agricultural Science at the university, completed his Ph.D. in Sydney, and has been lecturing at Waite and Roseworthy since 1992. He has been a program leader in the Beef CRC, director of Pork CRC and continues to lead multiple sheep and cattle projects.
The Davies Centre focuses on livestock health and wellbeing utilising medical technologies, Genetic gain utilising genomics and assisted reproductive technologies, improving breeder herd and flock productivity, meat and wool science utilising objective measurement, and training and adoption with trans-disciplinary teams. He has a farm at Keith run in partnership with his son.
