Producers encouraged to nominate for Livestock SA board

South Australian livestock producers are being encouraged to consider nominating for the Livestock SA board.

There are five, two-year positions up for election this year, to nominate, producers must be a member of Livestock SA and must submit a nomination form on or before nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday July 25.

Successful candidates will be announced at Livestock SA’s annual general meeting on Friday, September 14, at Hahndorf. The AGM will be held in conjunction with the GROWING SA 2018 Conference.

Livestock SA chief executive officer Andrew Curtis encouraged members to consider applying for positions on the Livestock SA board.

“Being a part of the Livestock SA board is a wonderful opportunity for producers to contribute to the future of their industry,” he said.

“It’s also a great opportunity on a personal or individual level to gain an understanding of how the Livestock SA board works in advocating for the livestock industry.”

Mr Curtis said the organisation played a vital part in advocating for the South Australian livestock industry.

“As an organisation Livestock SA has a growing membership of more than 3500 members representing sheep, beef cattle and goat producers across the state. Collectively our members are some of the largest land managers in SA,” he said.

“Livestock SA Board members play a key role in the organisation, and together they represent a wide range of regions and industries within the livestock sector. We welcome all members to consider nominating for the positions up for election this year.”
