The April edition of the Foundation for Rabbit Free Australia newsletter
The Easter Bilby is an idea first promoted by the Foundation for Rabbit Free Australia as a means of raising awareness of the critical link between nature conservation and the control of wild European rabbits in the early 1990’s. It wasn’t until Haigh’s Chocolates came on board in 1993 that the idea morphed into reality. This Easter, Haigh’s Chocolates are celebrating 25 years of the making the chocolate Easter Bilby.
We, at the Foundation for a Rabbit Free Australia, applaud Haigh’s Chocolates. After 2 years of selling Easter Bilbies, Haig’s discontinued their chocolate Easter Bunnies, sending a powerful message to consumers. They have since sold in excess of 700,000 chocolate Easter Bilbies. With each sale the significance of Bilbies and the importance of the work of the Foundation for a Rabbit Free Australia is promoted.
