GROWING SA to highlight policy impacts on-farm
South Australia’s only forum to debate grains and livestock advocacy, research and farm business issues is back.
GROWING SA will return in 2018, following the success of last year’s inaugural event.
Grain Producers SA and Livestock SA will again partner to host the conference on Friday 14 September at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, Hahndorf.
GROWING SA is an opportunity for primary producers to hear the latest in policy developments, farm business advice and commodity research while networking with each other and industry service providers and policy decision-makers. GPSA and Livestock SA will host their annual general meetings as part of the day.
This year’s event is supported by a host of industry organisations which are partnering to deliver the latest policy and farm business information to producers.
GROWING SA gold sponsors are the Grains Research and Development Corporation and Meat & Livestock Australia.
Other major sponsors include Rabobank and Quality Wool. The South Australian Small Business Commissioner, Commander Ag-Quip, Spanlift Australia, Rural Business Support and WFI will all be exhibiting at GROWING SA.
GPSA CEO Caroline Rhodes says the success of the inaugural 2017 event demonstrated a clear demand for this type event on the South Australian ag industry calendar.
“The event in 2017 was a great success and we want to leverage that for 2018, and ensure GROWING SA is a regular and well-known fixture in SA for cutting edge information and peer networking,” Ms Rhodes said.
“We have a great industry to celebrate in SA. Agribusiness employs one in five people in South Australia and the food and wine industries generate $18.6 billion in revenue for the state. So we are keen to further develop producers in those areas of policy that greatly impact farm businesses, but are not always front and centre in SA’s current event offering.”
Livestock SA CEO Andrew Curtis says the two-way dialogue regarding policy issues at the 2017 conference set the tone for policy discussions well into 2018.
“We had the major state political parties make policy announcements at last year’s GROWING SA while Primary Producers SA announced it would join the National Farmers’ Federation, boosting South Australian agriculture’s representation at a national level,” Mr Curtis said.
