FAQs How was Livestock SA formed? Livestock SA started after the SA Farmers Federation folded in 2012. The commodities covered by SAFF each moved to establish autonomous commodity advocacy groups. This means each group can form policy that best serves its industry and members and can comment on issues affecting them. Is this a better structure? Yes because it allows each group the independence to manage their own commodity group and its operations while not interfering with decisions or issues unique to other industries. Can I be a Livestock SA member? Yes! Livestock producers who pay industry levies to the SA Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds are eligible to be members and there is no additional cost. Membership forms can be filled out on Livestock SA’s website or request a hard copy from the Livestock SA office or print one from the website. I’m not a livestock producer so can I be a member? Livestock SA has an associate membership category for farm managers, consultants, businesses and anyone interested in beef cattle, sheep and goat production. The rate is $110 a year and more information is available from Livestock SA or its website.
