South Australian livestock producers are the first in the nation to have access to a ‘brand’ recording app thanks to a collaboration between the State Government and Livestock SA.
‘SA Brands’ allows producers to simply register their livestock brands via the app – maintaining their visible animal identifiers as well as the “ear tagging” of animals, which the national livestock identification system (NLIS) requires. It also gives producers the ability to report lost or stolen livestock – and assist with tracking them down.
The South Australian Government worked closely with Livestock SA members to develop the SA Brands app, which was officially launched by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Leon Bignell at the Growing SA Conference in Hahndorf on August 11.
Via ‘SA Brands’, producers can also receive news and updates from Livestock SA and connect with other livestock owners registered on the platform.
